Fulton, New York
(population 11,855 in
2000), occupies 3.8 square miles in exciting
Oswego County, NY. Ten miles south of Lake Ontario and
twenty-five miles north of the City of Syracuse, Fulton enjoys a central
location for transportation. The Oswego River bisects Fulton on its way
north to the City of Oswego's deepwater world port, and it provides
access to the New York State Barge Canal System and the Great Lakes.

Fulton, NY. Downtown Gloversville Historic District (1850 to present,
Fulton County Courthouse (est 1750), Fulton County Jail, and the
Gloversville Free Library (an excellent example of Beaux Arts), among
others.
Battlefields, farms,
cider mills, and other areas of interest attract many to the Fulton
area. The
forest just between Fulton and the
City Of Gloversville may have inspired an important scene in
James Fenimore Cooper's Pathfinder. Fishing is excellent on the
Oswego River, with river guides and tackle shops in abundance.
The Fulton Speedway, made famous in the 50's by NASCAR Modified
stars such as Richie Evans, George Kent, and Sonny Seamon, has come into
its own as a world-renowned track.
Employment and
economy in Fulton is diversified, with educational, health, and social
services providing just over 21% of jobs, and manufacturing providing
20% of jobs. Some of the nation's leading food processing and packaging
companies, including Huhtamaki World Packaging Company 590, are located
here, and the city plans to keep it that way with tax incentives
and electric rate discounts. Fulton's A.L. Lee Memorial Hospital, a
fully-accredited, full-service hospital, works with businesses with its
Occupational Medicine program.
Fultonn's
crime rate is almost non-existent with a crime index of 303.3 (2002 saw
0 murders).
The Fulton City
School District provides the City of Fulton as well as neighboring Towns
of Granby, Minetto, Oswego, Palermo, Scriba, and Volney with excellent
educational programs, and an average class size of 21. Cayuga Community
College is local, with SUNY College at Oswego only 11 miles away, and
Onondaga Community College, Syracuse University, and LeMoyne College
within 30 miles.
